Dear J,
realsitically nothing but I have read books that say that cordials are fruit 
based alcoholic liquids but liqueurs are non fruit based (ie herbs, nuts etc)
Thus Cherry brandy is a cordial and frangelico is a liqueur...
not sure if its true tho'... but do remember reading it somewhere.
