Yes there is a knack for getting it straight.
Use your thumb and forefinger to steady the glass while inverting it into the
tin. Before you "tap" the two together make sure that they are straight.
A Boston Shaker should fit irregardless but the seal is best while the two
parts are straight (as straight as you can make them)...then shake.
Boston shakers are NOT supposed to be placed at an angle into one another.
