You add sugar syrup for a liqueur only, not for and infused liquor such as 
strawberry infused vodka.

Infuse a cup of sliced strawberries with a fifth or a quart of vodka.  Shake 
mixture every 2 days.

If you slice the bean the liquor infuses faster.
