Dear Nathan,
Both my sister and I are bartenders in CA I for7 years and she for more.
Neither of us has ever met an employed bartender that went to a school. Save
your money hon. If you want to be a bartender go to a bar and ask for a job.
It's as easy as that. You may have to get your experience in a hole in the
wall from some ancient old bartender (the best way to learn in my opinion). Or
if you want to go straight to COCKTAIL ask for a job in a club or bar that you
like. If you have the personality and are willing to do the shit jobs for a
while someone will give you a job. Just remember be persistent you will have
to start at the bottom to get to the top. It will be easier for you because
you are a guy. Another way to get some experience is to go to work for a
catering company, you can start by barbacking the real bartender and then
learn from there.
Best of Luck
