> Just a little conceited aren't we......
please....i know exactly where she is coming from...I am in the same boat only
on the flip side of the coin...I am a guy and work at a GAY bar/club...I
CONSTANTLY get hit on all night and let me just say now that I am completely
straight. The fact that I work with my shirt off only complicates matters but
I get so much in tips i dont even care cause i got bills to pay. The only
reason I took the job was because (a) I needed the money, (b) they hired me
with NO experience (c) I am very open minded.
So to answer the question here is some situations I have had happen so far.
The one that comes up the most is the person wanting your phone number. In
this situation just tell them in a nice way that you dont give out your
number, but you that they can give you theirs, that way you have the control
and dont have to call them, and you still get a tip.
The next situation is getting blatantly hit on, I have had guys wanting to
know if i was "for rent" and their is more x-rated requests that I have had
thrown my way that i won't get into.
The best thing to do here is to just smile and try to change the subject...I
know this is extremely hard, but people get a little alcohol in them and go
off the deep in sometimes. And if your bar is busy just tell them to hold on
and start making more drinks and don't go back to them unless they need
another drink. Then as soon as you make it, go to someone else. If it is
early in the night and slow...there is really nothing you can do. This
happens to me alot, especially during the early part of the night and later on
when i am closing up(i work the back bar and close after last call the main
bar stays open until close), when i am closing i just tell them i am closing
up and they usually walk off.
Um...those are really the two biggest situations that go down. Other than
that just remember that the bar you work is like a stage. Your putting on a
show to get money and sex sells so use it to your advantage and take them for
what they are worth. In my case, I tell all these people that go to my bar
that i am straight, but i still let them think that their is still that little
chance for them when in fact, there is NO chance at all. The key is pullin
this off without them knowing it, making sure they have a good time, and thats
about it.
Some people will say that this is wrong or whatever but hey, I dont put these
people down, they are obviously having fun cause they always come back, and I
am making money. And I only do this with people that are assholes and hit on
me all the time. I have regular's that I treat with utmost respect and I
usually have their drink ready before they even ask me....
