Working on a cruise ship can be a good or, in the mean time , a bad
experience too, it depends which cruise line you work for.
There are over hundred cruise lines at the present time, like in the hotel
ratings there are 3, 4, 5 and 5 star plus ships (even 6 is used for few of
them), so it all depends where you end up, I personally suggest to check the
highest rated cruise companies (http://www.travelpage.com/, cruise travel, or
http://www.getcruising.com/cruising/forum.html)and apply direcly, they all
have their own site.
Is it fun ? Yes if you work as a bartender, a bit less if you work as a waiter
( longer working hours, split shifts, etc.), tips? yes some companies do have a
tipping policies, some don't but you get a kind of bonus in your wages,( you
get paid monthly).
There are companies who sail all over the world and there are companies who
cruise the Caribbean and Mexico all year round, again I strongly suggest you
pick one of the top company ( Crystal,Seabourn,Silverseas,Radisson...) and if
you're lucky you might join them for the next world cruise departing january
2002.....good luck
