For good ingredients to make a Margarita would be:

First the tequila:

A good tequila, for your rondez-vous this evening, would be a (blanco) white
tequila, also called a plata (or silver). Make sure any tequila you buy is
made from 100% Blue (Weber) Agave. Only the best are made and bottled in
Mexico (due to strict government regulations.

The following are more expensive and they will make a cocktail taste better,
but mixing with other drink ingredients will mask the tequilas flavor. They
are mainly for sipping straight and not mixing with a mixer. And are not
worth in my opinion to me the additional expense unless sipped straight.

Reposado (rested): Aged tequilas like a reposado (rested), which is aged in
wood for at least 60 days. They are always aged for less than one year.

Anejo Tequila: "Aged" must be aged for a minimum of one year up to three
years, and it must be aged in government-sealed barrels.

Joven abocado or "gold" which are almost always produced as mixed tequila. It
is an un aged or blanco tequila to which additive colors and flavors are mixed
in after the distillation process.

For an orange liqueur to mix I would mix an orange liqueur called Grand
Marnier.

And a good lime juice to mix with the margarita would be fresh squeezed.
