a bar back helps the bartender/s most with the scut work i.e. hauling 
ice,stocking the bar,bussing tables, washing glasses

some places have a postion just for that, a lot of places the bartender does 
it thierself,most places the person doing this job is "recruited" from the 
ranks of the bushelp.
