1 shot = 1 1/2 ounces
1 pony = 1 ounce
A "shotglass" is usually 1.5 ounces, but sometimes 2 ounces with a measuring
line at 1.5 ounces. You can also buy (in US) "short shot" glasses or "pony
shots" which are 1 ounce. Pony shots are usually used with martinis,
manhattans, and rob roys.
There are 64 ounces in a half gallon. A shot ranges from 1 ounce to 1 1/2
ounces. If you pour 1 oz shots you have 64 shots in a half gallon, and if you
pour 1.5 ounce shots you would have 42.67 shots per gallon.
