Aguardiente:
Aguardiente Juanito El Caminero is an alcoholic beverage made from sugar cane
and produced in Puebla, Mexico. It is sold in 335 ml. bottles and contains 38
per cent alcohol per volume.

This is a drink that we tried in Trinidad on Monday, March 13. The location
was quite magical, a patio shaded by vines. There was a man playing the bongos
and several European tourists sitting around him.

We asked for the recipe for this drink and it was given to us. Here it is:

Canchanchara

Lemon juice, 1/2 oz.
Aguardiente 1 1/2 oz.
Honey, 1 little spoonful
Ice, 2 pieces
Water
--------------------
I would use 1 part = 1/2 ounce.

Three Mulas

1 part Tequila
1 part Ginebra (Gin)
1 part Aguardiente

Fill with orange juice and ice.

Rompopo (Honduran Eggnog)

1 lt. milk
12 egg yolks
1/4 cup sugar
12 oz. cinnamon sticks
2 cloves
2 peppercorns
1 cup strong white liquor (aguardiente or rum)
A pinch of nutmeg
In a big pot, boil milk together with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. In a
bowl, separate yolks and whites, and beat the yolks until they change color.
Cook milk and yolks at medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture
loses its egg flavor. Let it cool and add the liquor. Keep eggnog in a
sterilized glass bottle and refrigerate. Do not add ice when serving eggnog.
It is a creamy sweet beverage, perfect for a cool evening.
