Zyedgo, I could't of said it better myself.

Key thing that I have learned is take what ever you can get.

I was one of the few, Thursday, that was recomended to put my application in
at one of the top restaraunts in Providence. When I was filling out my
application the Mayor was sitting with a friend at the next table.

Even though there are a lot of jobs, one place had two openings at once, they
went fast!!! So you take what you can get for the experience and then you
keep on looking. A friend of mine who graduated the same day i did started
looking on Thursday. He said he went to one place that was near his home, he
didn't want it because the establishment was only opened about 6 hours a day.
I told if it is near your home it will be easy to get to, and after a couple
of months there you will be more marketable. Most palces really want
experienced bartenders.

Another thing you said that was very important is ask why these places always
need bartenders. There is a place in downtown Providence that is a fantastic
place, hard tom get a job at, has benefits, I asked the school why they needed
someone and I was told it's a high pressure place to work. When I applied the
place was so packed you could hardly move.
