Whisky/scotch/bourbon only age in barrels.When they age they pick up flavors 
and color from the  wood of the barrel.

As an investment you might want to look at commerative bottles.Jack Daniels 
and Jim Beam come out with one every year or so and they do apreciate in 
value.I'm not  very familar with other brands but I'm sure ther a rer some out 
there.
