As I remember, to find the volume of a unusually shaped object in chemistry
class, we simply put that item in water and measured the displacement. In my
kitchen cupboard i have a measured pourer that would work great, it has cup
and ounce scales on it. Make sure there is enough liquid in the container to
float the scoop of ice cream or you may not get an accurate measurement.
Experiment with different size scoops or spoons to get the right technique.
Use 1 1/2 to 2 cups of milk to do the experiment, and when you're done you can
add some extra ice cream, a banana, and pineapple to make a couple of milk
shakes. :-)
