The "Cosmopolitan" (aka. Cosmo) is probably one of the most popular (read: 
Trendy) drinks around. It is gradually diminishing, but it is still one of the 
most common drinks ordered at most bars.

This drink has been around since the 1980's, but nobody knows (to the best of 
my knowledge) where it got it's start or who first invented it. Fortunately 
there does appear to be a fairly good consensus as to what its recipe is.

The base recipe is Vodka, Cranberry Juice, Cointreau, and Lime Juice.

The vodka might often be citrus, or some other flavored vodka, the Cointreau 
might often be Triple Sec. And the Lime Juice might sometimes be Lime based 
Sour Mix, or (heaven forbid) Rose's Lime Juice. But fresh Lime Juice is 
definately the prefered way to make this drink.

I personally also add simple syrup to the above because I think that the 
combination of Cranberry Juice and Lime is too tart for the Cointreau to 
balance out all by itself. The recipe that I use can be found at:
