Hey Kent,

I have recently replied to a similar question, and knowing your strong
presence on various tending forums you may have seen this link already.
Unfortunately this site has no pictures of the technique but states this in
reguards to proper shaking:

      Shake
drinks with the metal cup on the bottom and shake away from the gues
(over
your shoulder). If the seal breaks, the guests won't get wet.

This is another sight by Dale Degroff which has a picture of a guy shaking a
cocktail in the upper right. Since it is on Dales'site I will assume it is the
proper technique according to Dale.

All in all I am pretty sure that the "proper" method of shaking is whatever
the bartender thinks is right. That said I choose to take advice from Dale a
most reputable bartender.

I hope this is useful. Mr_Nicotine
