Hello all fellow bartenders!!
I just turned 21 and I was offered a job working Monday day's at a local
bar. I have NO experience (expect for pouring draft beer briefly at a pizza
joint before I turned 21). As I was unemployed and they offered to train me,
I figured it was a good idea. Monday's are slow (the slowest shift of the
entire place) avg. sales are between $200 and $300. My problem is that I get
additional training on Thursday nights with another bartender but he only
gives me 40% of the tips from the shift!! That shift is SUPER busy with sales
in the $1500 range. Granted, he does have all the knowledge, but half the time
he sits on the other side of the bar and just tells me how to make the drinks
so I feel like I am doing ALL of the work!! He tells me what a "golden
opportunity I am getting" and that "anywhere else I would be lucky to get 20%
of the tips" Is this true??!? I feel like I am being lied to and taken
advantage of. I have been at it for 3 months now and not sure if this really
is the "opportunity of a lifetime" or if I should go be a bartender somewhere
else. Please let me know!!
p.s. I am a young, hot, girl... so it shouldn't be too difficult right??

How do I pour? What is 'cl', 'oz' and 'pt'? How should I handle glassware?.
