Help With Lazy Co-Worker! Please!

I tried using google and this was the only site that seemed it could be of some help. Let me give you a little bit background before I continue. I work at a family owned restaurant which is great because it's laid back, the owners are great, and it doesn't have all of those franchise rules and write ups. I work very hard behind the bar, I'm on time, my customers and regulars love me and always compliment me, and I never every stand around because there is always someething to be done. ...

Re: are snifter, inhaler and brandy ballon the same?

That's a really great question. I often find myself confronted with similar questions. With so many types and styles of glassware, keeping track of them all can be challenging. You seem like the type of guy who wants to go about equipping and stocking his home bar the "right" way. However, in my experience, when it comes to matters of the home bar, there is no "right" way. ...

Bacardi Rock Coconut Rum vs Coconut Rum

I use Bacardi Rock Coconut Rum to make a coconut martini. Can I use the Rock coconut to make a bikini martini, or do I need the plain coconut rum? I was just wondering if it would ruin the bikini martini or make it even better.... This way I would not have to buy both types. ...

Another pre-mixed drink question

If you want to pickup barflies, sure. You will also be losing customers, and probably your job. If you want to pickup girls go to another bar as a customer. A bartender needs to act professionally as do wait-staff. How can you control the room if you are not paying attention.

I recently had a cocktail at Poste in DC called the violet femmes. I know it contained Grey Goose Orange Vodka, Creme de Violette, St Germain Elderflower, violet bitters, orange bitters and champagne.
Re: dinner cocktails

We're pretty much stuck on wine at the present. There has been a trend to pair foods with mixed drinks but it is not very standardized. http://www.starchefs.com/features/trends/cocktail-pairing/html/index.shtml has a good article that states the cocktail is more likely to be developed especially for the dish rather than pairing with a mix already in in existence.

I have a recipe for homemade coffee drink. It is basically Kahlua. My question arises because it must sit for a month to allow the vanilla beans to blend.
Re: How to get a bar tending job with no experience

Sometimes it's just being at the right place at the right time and also it's who you know. Unfortunately, it's not always about the experience. I've seen people get bartending positions with little to no experience based on who they know. Definitely unfair, but true. With that said, try to frequent the bars/restaurants you want to work at, get to know the owner and staff...Put the word out that you are looking. I started out filling in for someone at first, which led to a perm. position...Good luck.

I used to have a recipe for a drink called antifreeze (looked just like prestone) I know it took 5 shots of something. 4 shots something, 3 shots of something. 2 shots of something and a can of pineapple juice. I know that southern comfort, amaretto & blue caruco were 3 of the alcohols - any one have this recipe?
